Three Mixers
Three Mixers is a live electronics setup investigating the balance between chaos and control in an improvisational performance. Two modified no-input mixers generate chaotic sounds and are brought together in a third mixer, where the sounds are sampled, modified, and connected to a musical narrative. Each performance is a unique duet between the performer and the technology, resulting in dynamic musical journeys ranging from harsh, noisy outbursts to beautifully layered fragile harmonics. Three Mixers was developed at STEIM and BEK. The modifications to the no-input mixers were implemented by Sybren Danz.
